Basically, in science fiction some more (or less) plausible-sounding reason is given for the way strange things work; in fantasy no (real) reason is given at all. Hence, if I build a time machine by coupling quantum chronon field generators with a wavicle oscillator, that’s science fiction; if I find a mysterious gem with a powerful amethyst ray that transports me back to other times, that’s fantasy. Of course, you’ll notice that the first example given has no real reason in it either; to tell the truth, there’s always a bit of smoke and mirrors with all of this stuff (otherwise, after all, it would be science fact).

Science fiction is a genre that explores science based material. Anything that deals with science from chemistry to robotics to biology… anything with science.

To be honest.. science fiction isn’t all that important its just popular. Science Fiction just present intriguing ideas to the public and makes them wonder whether the idea portrayed can be pulled off with science.

Fantasy is exactly what it is, fantasy. Anything unbelievable. Science Fiction is a genre that introduce scientific advances
(whether plausible or far fetched). Science Fiction, to a sense, is more realistic than fantasy and at times is presented with a more serious tone.

I hope this helps you out.

science fiction is literature that based on current scientific knowledge is a possibility.

    Important because it is possible.

Science fantasy is literature that explores issues that are beyond currently known technology.

Science fiction is a genre of fiction that has speculations based on current or future science or technology. Science fiction is found in books, art, television, films, games, theater, and other media.
Science fiction differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).
